There is a currently a great need to develop user friendly tools for better internet experience as the the World Wide Web is gradually becoming more customized for the user. Widgets are examples of components that make the web easier to navigate. A widget refers to any graphical interface or icon that is able to be manipulated by either the internet user or computer. Good examples are the icons located on the desktop interface of a computer. By clicking on this icons, using the keyboard or mouse, a user manages to have interaction with the website or computer program.

Many websites have increased the number of widgets on their sites in order Widgetsto make it easier to navigate through the site and make the user experience more interactive. Other examples of widgets include drop-down menus, buttons and various other components that can be clicked on to get a desired result. Widgets are important because they cater for both the technologically savvy individuals and individuals who are not very conversant with the workings of computer programs. With the use of widgets, even first time users may be able to find their way through a program. The trend with webmasters and information technology companies is to increase functionality while keeping it simple and this is easily done using widgets.
